Pixel Shield Academy was created by Tamarita Cowans, a former teacher who returned to school after teaching and completed a two-year Network Security Administration program. She also holds IT and Cisco security certifications.

Her concern about children using the internet without enough protection and guidance became practical lessons families can work through together.
